Location information:

Prea (& Jericoacoara) are located some 300km (190 miles) north west of Fortaleza in a vast coastal dune area on the north eastern coast of Brazil, (Ceará Province).

The small fishing village of Prea is on a 15-mile stretch of pristine sandy beach, with a huge coastline & incredible wind conditions just perfect for Kitesurfing & windsurfing.
 
The beach is massive, empty, sandy with few rocks. The wind is incessant; every day from 11am until sun down the wind blows side-on-shore from the right, EVERYDAY from August to January with a force of Beaufort 4+. The wind is reputed to be too strong, but it is consistent and great for Kitesurfers & Windsurfers who love using small kites / sails.

Staying in accommodation in Prea is ideally suited to couples or individuals in search of peace & quiet, relaxation & pure water sports excitement. A finer get-away from the hustle & bustle of daily life you couldn't wish to find.

• East / North East is the normal wind direction
  
• Relative to the beach the wind is side-on -shore from the right, everyday
  
• 15 – 30 knots of wind from June – January
• Some of the best wind / water sports conditions in the world
  
• Best months from August – January: 95 - 100% of days Bft. Force 4+
• Sep – Nov = 100% of days Bft. Force 4+!!
• Most used kite sizes: 7 or 9m
• March to May is considered the rainy season but you’ll still get 3 days / week of wind on average

JERICOACOARA: (Just 15 mins drive from Prea or an awesome kitesurfing downwinder!)

THE POINT:

• In front of Club Ventos is the main kitesurfing area
• Here you will find one of the smoothest waves in the north of Brazil
• On the inside the waves gently turn into flatter water
• Great for jumps, wave riding & freestyle, all in 1 surf spot

SUNSET DUNE:

• An excellent, large kitesurfing free-ride area in the bay of Jericoacoara
• An endlessly big flat-water kitesurfing area
• Sometimes there can be some gentle shore break for surfing

MALHADA:

• Expert kitesurfers ONLY - there are lot of rocks and a long walk back in the event of a problem
• This side-on beach on the other side of town (upwind of "The Point") offers some fantastic starboard jumping wave kickers

Destination Airport should be Fortaleza International Airport (FOR)

Fly direct to Fortaleza with:

TAP Air Portugal:

• TAP fly from Lisbon everyday and run connecting flights to Lisbon from most major cities

Other airlines: Indirect flights to Fortaleza

• TAM
• Lufthansa
• Air France
• As of November, Edelweiss Air will be flying from Zurich - however this is a charter airline & the route is not always available
• Arkefly (via Amsterdam - although this route is not always available). Flights can be booked online with Arkefly or with QXXL.nl
  
• Another option from the UK might be to fly to Natal and from there get an internal flight (with TAM or GOL www.voegol.com.br) to Fortaleza
• Charter flights to Fortaleza are also available from Verona/ Milan, Italy. A number of airlines fly directly to Fortaleza from the USA

From Fortaleza to Jericoacoara takes about 4 – 5 hours
