Location information:

Los Roques is truly a kitesurfing heaven on earth!

The very best that the Caribbean & Venezuela have to offer kitesurfers, sun worshippers, honeymooners and people in need of a complete get away.
Los Roques is an archipelago in a National park 170km off the Venezuelan mainland consisting of 350 islands and atolls of white sand beaches. The coral reef surrounding the archipelago is a rich habitat for hundreds of colourful tropical fish, turtles and other marine animals.

The National Park in which Los Roques is situated is the largest marine park in the Caribbean Sea, covering some 546 acres.

The main island on which most of the hotels (“Posadas”) and restaurants are located is Gran Roque.

There is limited kitesurfing on Gran Roque itself so to make the most of the immense KiteSurf potential you need to take the boat trips offered by the hotels to neighbouring islands

An even better way to explore is to charter a yacht / catamaran and live on-board.

• North easterly is the normal direction
• Best months for kitesurfing & windsurfing: March – June: 70% of days Bft force 4+
• 16 – 25 knots of good & clean wind most days during this period
• Most used kite size: 12 – 14m, occasionally 9m
• Windsurfing sails: 5 - 7m
• Blows most of the day, dropping off early afternoon before picking up again and blowing into the evening, sometimes really picking up after about 4pm
• Jan, Feb, Nov, Dec: 45 – 70% of days Bft force 4 +

• 24°C & smooth as silk on the lee-side of hundreds of sandbars – kitesurfing options are endless

Getting to Los Roques, Venezuela:

Bit of a trek but well worth it when you get there!

• Numerous scheduled flights to Caracas (CCS) Simon Bolivar International Airport
• Flights available with LTA, Avior from Maiquetia (the national terminal linked to CCS) to Los Roques, Gran Roque Airport
  
• Same day arrival in Los Roques depends on arrival time of your International flight
• Airport assistance service on arrival in Caracas for US $10 / person. Highly recommended in case you do not arrive in time to connect and need a hotel in Caracas for the night, in which case your helper will arrange return transport to a hotel (US$20 / person)
• 35 – 40 min flight (depending on aircraft)
• Typically costs EUR 200 for return ticket
• More frequent flights available in smaller aircraft
