Location information:

Gran Canaria is the 3rd largest island of the Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean 210km from the North-West coast of Africa.

Gran Canaria is located South-East of Tenerife and West of Fuerteventura.

Gran Canaria island is of volcanic origin and belongs to Spain. The island’s capital city is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the largest city in the Canary Islands.

Windsurfing spots in Gran Canaria:

Directly in front of the Windsurfing centre / school in the Bay of Bahia Feliz – one of the windiest spots on the Canary Islands during Winter months

• The wind blows side-shore from the left, and there is perfectly flat water inside the bay
• Further out windsurf wave novices will find a swell with waves that are just right for jumping
• Mornings are the best time to for windsurfing lessons
• During the Summer the trade winds are stronger and more constant - but they mostly come from the north, so that Bahía Feliz is frequently on the leeward side of the island during high Summer. During the Summer therefore, the Windsurfing centre organizes excursions for advanced Windsurfers 6 times a week, in the centre's own bus (once a week during Winter)

Surf spots in Gran Canaria:

There are more than 20 surf spots or areas along the coastline of the island that are suitable for practising surfing and body boarding:

Northern Region:
This is the main surfing area and includes:

• The entire coastal area from El Confital (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria)
• "Las Monjas" wave,
• Gáldar and its "Bocabarranco”

This part of the coast is very rocky and has the greatest frequency of waves as well as the strongest breaks. The best surfing conditions can bring waves of up to 5 meters!

Eastern Region:
Ideal for surfing when the sea current comes from the East and there is no wind. When this happens, the best surfing spots are found in the vicinity of Pozo Izquierdo, including both "Mosca Point" and the area to the right of "El Muellito"

The Southern and Western Region:
The most notable Surf area is the Point that separates Playa del Inglés from the beach of Maspalomas, the area around the lighthouse of Maspalomas also produces good waves.

The Tres Vidas apartments are very close to the Mistral windsurf centre and about 75m from the beach.


Amenities & facilities:

• Apartments are comfortable and are individually furnished and have impressive views looking out to sea over the Bay of Bahia Feliz
• Size wise they are bigger than the Las Pitas Apartments, kitchen and living room with big sofa offer more space and the terrace is twice as big as Las Pitas (with great views over the beach and the sea) from the first floor
• The apartment has 2 normal beds plus 2 extra beds (for one adult and a kid) using the sofa
• A folding bed can be added - so it’s possible to accommodate 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 / 3 kids

Getting to Bahia Feliz, Gran Canaria:

Fly to Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) with any number of airlines

If you are travelling by rental car, take the following route to the Bahia Feliz holiday complex (Orquidea Hotel, Bahia Feliz apartments) and to the Windsurfing centre:

• Leaving the airport, enter the motorway via the approach marked 'Sur' (south), heading in the direction of Mogan / Maspalomas.
• After about 30km, leave the motorway via the exit marked "Tarajalillo" (near the recreational airport and the Go-Kart track Continue heading South towards "Mogan" and "Maspalomas" on the motorway and take the next exit (Playa de Aguila) after about 2 km
• Drive under the motorway via the underpass and drive back 1 km in the opposite direction (North) to the entrance to the Bahia Feliz complex.
  
• Drive in, keep to the left and take the next turn to the right to get to the Hotel Orquidea or Club Mistral Windsurfing Centre
  
• This road ends directly in front of the Orquidea Hotel; if you wish to go directly to Club Mistral, first park your car (N.B: limited parking space! Do not park in yellow zones!)
