More information about Snowkiting
Snowkiting / kite skiing / kite snowboarding has evolved from Kite Surfing . The idea is similar but the style of board and the medium on which you kite are different.
For hundreds of years, kite skiers and Arctic explorers have used kites to pull sledges across expansive, snowy tundras. Many expeditions to the Poles have used kites to pull both man and machine to save energy. The power of the wind will always be available for those in search of extreme sports pleasure in the great outdoors.
Snowkiting is a modern day mix of Snowboarding or Skiing and Kitesurfing in one. Imagine taking a lift high atop a beautiful mountain, you prepare your kite and set off across virgin powder on a flat plain - no need for a helicopter here!
As you Kite Snowboard / Kite Ski up and down the hills, your kite helps you gain speed and with a good consistent wind you can jump up to 25 feet in the air. With this much height, you can start doing some of the moves and tricks that Kite Surfers do on water (forward & back rolls, kiteloops, handle passes).
Snowkiting is a relatively new but rapidly up and coming extreme sport as downhill ski resorts continue to get busier and as snow falls become more erratic. Kite power opens up a whole array of new terrain, with no need for expensive lift systems.
Snowkiting transforms flat snow plains & plateaus into massive fun parks. You don't need steep slopes when you're hooked into a power kite. All you need is some wind and some imagination - the sky is the limit!
Blast around a frozen ocean, doing cut-backs on banks of powder, launching off natural kickers and mounds - its like riding a never ending static wave.
If you are at all interested in SnowKiting or KiteSurfing, (whether it is at beginner level, right through to advanced and Instructor training), please keep exploring the Snow Kite & Kitesurf sections of our website. For the ultimate rush, spice up your next Ski / Snowboard holiday. Give us a call and book your place on an unforgettable, Nordic Snowkiting adventure experience.
